Monday Blues

Happy Monday Lovelies!

Honestly, I love mondays. I always have. I know, I'm a rare breed.
Here's the way I see it. We all wait for a new year to make resolutions. We all want to change our lives for the better. It's know fact. Just like when someone purchases one self help book, in three months time, they'll purchase another. As humans we believe we can better ourselves, and we can.

Instead of waiting 12 months to better myself, I make weekly resolutions. I was never a fan of waiting, so I try and cut down my waiting period to as tiny as I can. That's why I like monday. It's not a end to my weekend, a end to my sleeping in days, or the day where coffee rules all.

Every monday for as long as I could remember, I sat down with my morning cup of coffee and looked over my tasks for today, this week, this month, this season and this year. I refused to end my day unless something I did that day would help move my other goals into place.

A lot of people view mondays as an end to freedom. And maybe in some ways, monday is an end to the illusion of freedom we call the weekend. And maybe I'm naive...actually scratch that, I am naive, but I also try and take enjoyment out of the mundane.

Maybe you too are like me and try and see monday as a clean slate, that sets up the rest of your week. And maybe you're like many who dread mondays. Regardless, keep these things in mind:
  • On average, Monday is the least rainy day of the week. (I have no idea how valid this is, but it's just a fact someone told me once, and it stuck around.)
  • We're living in a time where everything is possible. Seriously, we're living in an age where people are making money on the internet, kids are self publishing their own books (how amazing is that!), and things are being invented everyday. We live in an age where you don't need a formal education to be successful, where you carry a world full of information in your pocket (via cellphone), and where everyday, someone is changing the status quo. If that's not amazing, then frankly, I don't know what is. But you're incredibly lucky to live in a time where everything possible is happening around you.
  • You have the power to change your day to fit yourself, even if it's small, like getting a cup of coffee at lunch.
  • Think of all the babies being born today.
  • The future is constantly being written around you by people who are hustling. That's pretty amazing.
  • It's the START of the week and possibly the start of something new.
I like Mondays. I'm one of the few people who probally will always love mondays. But, I like new starts, even if it's just the start of a week. A clean slate is still a clean slate.

(I know this video is about graduates, but flip it to Mondays.)

Get out there and kick Mondays butt.

  5. It's nice the way you see Mondays, indeed! I don't especially like or dislike it, but Mondays and Saturdays are my days of "biggest work" as I call it :) I tend to like Wednesdays better, but Mondays are OK, too! I loved the topic!

  6. Great goals to make weekly resolutions! Have a great week lovely lady.

  7. I like your attitude! :) I'm not a huge fan of Mondays but I do admit feeling a bit more inspired this particular day of the week because I take it as a clean slate, although it doesn't always happen, haha. I appreciate your positive thoughts and I'll try to remeber again the good things about Modays. :)

  15. I really don't care about what day in a week it is because ever since I'm in Uni, I start my lessons differently and one year I can have Mondays off and the next year Tuesdays off and so on... the point is I always say that even the bad/annoying days have endings and I look forward to that :) xx Maja
